Pulley replacement ideas?
« on: February 11, 2011, 04:37:07 AM »
I have a 31 Model A sedan street rod. 1999, 350 Chev. The builder chose to gut a power steering pump to use as an idler in it's original position.  He didn't leave fluid in the pump, but filled with grease. Not good, it has bushings and needs fluid under pressure.

I want to replace the power steering pump with an idler similar to an air conditioner replacement idler. Does anyone know of a similar hot rod engine problem like this? The serpentine is 7 pulleys. Clockwise from crank to tensioner, alternator small idler, air conditioner, power steering, Water pump, back to crank.

Thanks for any help!

I'll look around and see if I can find a replacement idler pulley for that.
Do you think you could just eliminate it and get a shorter belt?
